Ans. The various methods of communication are as follows.
Verbal communication: It includes the usage of words to deliver the message/information. It can be face-to-face, on phone or in group settings, etc. The two main types of verbal communication are:
• Written communication: In this, the message is conveyed by using the written symbols. It includes proposals, press releases, memos, contracts, brochures, handbooks, etc. The effectiveness of written communication depends upon the style of writing, vocabulary, grammar, precision and clarity.
• Oral communication: In this. the spoken words are used to convey the message. It includes phone, face-to-face communication, videoconferencing, voice chat, etc. It is used for both formal and casual conversations. The effectiveness of oral communication depends upon the speed, volume, pitch, voice modulation, clarity of speech, etc.
Non-verbal Communication: It is a communication where wordless messages are sent or received. In this, the body language, body posture, facial expressions, eye contact, gestures like pointed finger, tone of voice, the way we sit and stand are used to convey the message to the person with whom we are communicating.
Visual communication: It is the method of communication where visual aids like illustrations, graphic designs, drawings, typography, signs, etc., are used to convey the message. It reinforces written and oral methods of communication.

Ans. The various elements of Non-verbal communication are as follows.
• Appearance: The speaker’s clothing, hairstyle, neatness, use of cosmetics, and environment which include room, size, lighting, decoration and furnishing, all have a great impact on non-verbal communication. For example, we may notice a polite and agile lady/gentleman at the serene, well-lit and clean reception area of a hotel.
• Body Language: To be more effective communicators, we need to align our body language and tone with the words we are trying to convey. Research shows that when an individual lies, he/she is more likely to blink frequently, shift the body weight from one leg to the other and shrug.The thumb rule is that simplicity, directness and warmth convey sincerity.
